After nearly three decades, actor and comedian Adam Sandler is making a comeback in the highly anticipated “Happy Gilmore” sequel with an even bigger star-studded lineup.
In “Happy Gilmore 2,” Sandler, 58, reprises the role of “Happy” from the 1996 hit sports comedy, and is joined alongside original cast members Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Ben Stiller.
Fans can look forward to cameos from celebrities, musicians, comedians, PGA legends, and other athletes alike.
Among the fresh faces include co-star musician Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—otherwise known as Bad Bunny—Kid Cudi, Eminem, and Post Malone.
Actors Haley Joel Osment and Margaret Qualley, along with comedians Eric André and Blake Clark, also joined the cast.
“No matter what, no matter who was in the movie, it was an exciting day.”
Sandler was also sure to make it a family affair this time around, adding his wife Jackie and daughters Sadie and Sunny Sandler into the mix, all appearing in the film.
The most impressive lineup of all, however, features nearly 20 different professional golfers along with NBA, NFL, and WWE stars that truly helped lean into the sports plot of the movie.
Notably, teeing off are two-time Masters champion Scottie Scheffler, two-time PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas, and record-breaking golfer Jack Nicklaus.
Football stars Travis Kelce and Reggie Bush showcase their talents, along with WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Garcia and Serbian professional basketball player Boban Marjanović.
For years, it was up for debate whether or not a sequel was even going to happen, before Sandler came to the realization that there was more to Happy’s story than meets the eye.
“For 28 years, I was like, ‘What are you talking about? No.’ And then all of a sudden I was like, ‘Maybe.'”
Bringing together high-profile names can pose a challenging task, but Sandler made the feat look like a walk in the park.
”I don’t know how it happened,” he told GMA. “We wrote ’em stuff, everybody was kind enough to come. Everybody in it did a great job. Every day, someone cool would show up and we’d hang out.”
