He Swapped Price Tags at Walmart and Then Took Off Running Before Being Arrested, Police Say
Christopher Henderson. (Madison County Jail)

Rexburg, ID (East Idaho News)—A Rexburg man is in jail after police say he swapped price tags on merchandise at Walmart and then took off when confronted about his alleged actions.

Christopher Henderson, 28, was arrested on felony burglary and other misdemeanor charges after officers were called to the Rexburg store around 7 p.m. on Aug. 3.

“He had taken some adhesive UPC labels off 23 cent items and placed them onto higher-priced items,” Rexburg Police Capt. Gary Hagen tells EastIdahoNews.com. “He was scanning items on the self-checkout register and when he was leaving the store, loss prevention workers attempted to stop him.”

Henderson dropped the items and ran from the store, according to Hagen. Officers in the area observed him running in a nearby field and Hagen says Henderson took off his shirt in an attempt to change his look.

After a short foot pursuit, Henderson was taken into custody and police learned he was wanted on outstanding warrants for petty theft in Bonneville County.

Henderson was booked into the Madison County Jail.

Woman Eats Half a Cake and Demands Half-Off at Walmart

In related news, police in Wichita Falls, Texas, have banned a woman from a Walmart store after she reportedly ate half of a cake and then demanded to pay half price.

Wichita Falls police said that the woman, whose name remains unreleased, went to the store’s bakery section shortly before 8 p.m. on June 25 and selected a cake, reported Times Record News.

She then allegedly ate half of it while walking toward the register, WWOR reported, citing Wichita Falls Police Department. Once at the register, the women said she would only pay for the remaining half, despite eating it on her way to the checkout.

The store staff reported the theft to the police.

Confronted by police officers, the woman eventually agreed to pay the full price. Although no arrest or citation was made, the woman was barred from the Walmart location, reported WWOR.

This isn’t the first time a Walmart in Wichita Falls had to ban someone for misbehaving on store property. Early this year, a woman was banned after riding a shopping cart in the store’s parking lot while drinking wine from a Pringles can.

Police officers were called to the Texas store around 9 a.m. on Jan. 11, according to the Times Record News.

Employees told officers that the woman had been riding the electric disabilities cart and drinking for “several hours” before they called the police, the paper reported.

Officer Jeff Hughes told the news outlet that police were told by 911 dispatchers that the woman had been riding around in the store’s parking lot since 6:30 a.m.

The electric shopping carts are generally reserved for people with disabilities, and officers said she was drinking from an empty Pringles can.

Officers located the woman in a nearby restaurant. She was then told she was banned from the Walmart.

The story received national attention, with late-night host Stephen Colbert poking fun at the incident while drinking from a can of the chips on the show.

“Wine in a Pringles can lady, here’s to you!” the “The Late Show” wrote on Twitter at the time.

Pringles also leveraged the incident in a Facebook marketing campaign, posting a photo illustration of two Pringles cans with wine stems clinking.

“Toasting has never been so tasty,” reads the caption.

Epoch Times reporter Tom Ozimek and GQ Pan contributed to this report.
