China may be nearing a food shortage. There are hints that this crisis has already arrived.

In China, the responsibility of food security falls on both the Party and the government. On Feb 21, 2021, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) released a document stating that any problem related to the agricultural infrastructure, or to the supply of food and important agricultural products, is to be solved by 2025. For the first time, both the governor and Party secretary are required to be responsible for the food supply, equally.

Two months into the year of the ox, per the Chinese lunar calendar, the CCP has been continuously raising the issue of food security. This has raised a question among citizens as to whether a food crisis has already emerged in China.
