Jenna Bush Hager is expecting her third child, a son, with husband Henry Hager.

The “Today” show co-anchor and daughter of former President George W. Bush revealed the news on air during the NBC morning show on Monday, April 22.

The announcement came with a little help from co-host Savannah Guthrie who said that Bush Hager’s two daughters, Mila and Poppy, got “a little something extra” in their Easter baskets.

“Was it sugary and sweet?” Guthrie asked.

“It’s pretty sweet…I don’t know if it’s sugary,” Bush Hager responded.

Meanwhile, anchor Craig Melvin was left in the dark.

“Wait a minute. What are we doing here?” he asked. After a few seconds, Melvin caught on and asked if she was pregnant.

“Yes, I’m pregnant!” she confirmed, adding, “I don’t know how I hid this.”

When asked why she was making the announcement today, she said she “just couldn’t hold it one minute longer.”

She added, “But we told our girls yesterday,” referring to daughters Poppy Louise, 3; and Margaret “Mila” Laura, 6.

She also said, “I’m only telling because Mila and Poppy found out yesterday in their Easter baskets. [Then] they told the man behind me on the airplane; they told the people at church…There’s no keeping it a secret now.”

She also added that her two daughters “are so happy” to learn about their baby brother.

Then, during the 10 a.m. slot of the “Today” show, Bush Hager held a gender reveal by opening a massive box. Blue balloons flew out and blue confetti showered down, revealing Bush Hager is having a boy.

During that hour, she also revealed to guest co-host Meredith Vieira that she hadn’t planned for this pregnancy.

“We weren’t really trying to get pregnant. We had some fertility issues with Poppy,” she said on the show. When asked if she was excited to have her first boy, Bush Hager pointed that it will be the first boy grandchild on both sides of the Bush family. “It’s a little bit of a shock, but it’s such great news.”

Last year, Bush Hager and her husband, Henry Hager, celebrated 10 years of marriage, and now they have even more to celebrate together.

Bush Hager previously wrote about the joys of motherhood in an essay for Today.

“Before I became a mother, I thought I knew a lot about children,” she wrote. “Then Mila came along, and I’ve been learning ever since. What a joy and what a journey. It is an incredible experience to watch her grow and develop. Motherhood opens your heart and vision to an experience that links you to every other person in the world.”

Recently, Bush Hager’s sister, Barbara Pierce Bush, just got married a second time in Texas to her husband, Craig Coyne.

The 37-year-old and her husband, Craig Coyne, also 37, got married again in Crawford, Texas, where her parents own a ranch, according to reports.

The pair first tied the knot back in October last year in a secret ceremony in Maine. Jenna Bush Hager, Barbara’s sister, previously revealed to the “Today” show about the secret wedding.

“They wanted to get married here because my grandfather is here,” Jenna Bush Hager said at the time, referring to the late former President George H.W. Bush. She added, “It was a very secret wedding, a little bit like my elusive sister. But also, just family in a place that means family love, and it was beautiful.”
