Police arrested a man at the Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami on Saturday after he approached a security area and became disruptive, authorities said.
The U.S. Secret Service said President Donald Trump was not at the golf course at the time of the incident.
The incident had been captured on video and posted online. The Secret Service said it is aware of the video circulating online of a man being arrested at the golf course by the Doral Police Department.
At about 4:15 p.m., the man approached a security screening area staffed by Secret Service personnel and local police officers. The man became disruptive and didn’t comply with lawful orders, according to Michael Townsend, acting special agent in charge, Secret Service Miami.
The individual was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting without violence.
Trump National Doral Golf Club is a luxury golf resort in Miami featuring four championship courses. The property has hosted numerous professional tournaments.
On May 1, Trump traveled to Florida, where he first participated in an event with seniors at The Villages Charter School in The Villages and delivered remarks to a large crowd of supporters. Later that evening, he spoke at the invitation-only Forum Club of the Palm Beaches dinner at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, about 75 miles from Doral.
On Saturday, Trump was in the Palm Beach area. Upon departure, he held a press gaggle at Palm Beach, addressing reporters before leaving the state.
The arrest at Doral occurred amid heightened security concerns surrounding Trump following a separate incident last weekend.
California resident Cole Allen has beed charged with attempting to assassinate Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington on April 25. Allen faces multiple federal charges and remains jailed in Washington. He is yet to enter a plea.
Prosecutors said Routh spent months preparing, had a weapon ready to fire, and showed no remorse. The defense disputed his intent and cited mental health issues, but the court rejected those claims. Evidence showed Routh positioned himself outside Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump was playing, before being spotted by a Secret Service agent.
