A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of four people, including his parents, his brother, and his brother's girlfriend, at a home in southeastern Michigan on Tuesday, authorities said.

Officers responded just after 5:00 p.m. to reports of shots fired at the residence, located on the 19000 block of Rensellor Road in Livonia, just outside Detroit, police shared in a press release.

Officials said the suspect—who has not yet been identified—emerged from the home when officers arrived and told them he had shot his family members. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

After entering the residence, officers found a man and woman—later identified as the suspect's brother, Tanner Pierce, 22, and the brother's girlfriend, Nevaeh Finch, 21—inside a bedroom with gunshot wounds. The suspect's parents, Sterling Pierce, 58, and Holly Kimball, 53, were found in the backyard with similar injuries. All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

During a press conference Wednesday, Livonia Police Chief Thomas Goralski said a semi-automatic rifle believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered at the scene. Several other weapons were also located in the home, believed to be owned by the suspect and the suspect's father.

Goralski said investigators were still working to establish a motive for the killings but noted that there was a contentious relationship between the suspect and his parents.

Goralski said the suspect did not have a prior criminal history and police were not aware of any mental health issues, adding that officers had not been to the residence for any prior incidents involving the 25-year-old.

The investigation remains ongoing and once complete, findings will be handed over to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, which will determine what charges will be filed in the case.

Speaking to reporters, Goralski assured the public the shooting was an isolated incident.

"This was absolutely a crime that occurred within the confines of this house between the members of this house, and it was nothing to do with anything else in the city of Livonia," he said. "It's tragic and our hearts go out to that family."

Goralski said the Livonia Police Department is focused on seeking justice for the four victims.

"That is where our focus is as law enforcement because we serve and protect," he said. "We want to ensure we're doing everything for the victims and their families, and that helps our officers push through and do that good job."
