More than 1.7 million Cuisinart metal wire bristle grill brushes are being pulled from the market after federal safety regulators determined the products pose a serious risk if loose bristles are accidentally swallowed.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall on July 2, identifying Conair LLC, of Stamford, Connecticut, as the importer. The affected brushes—manufactured in China and sold under the Cuisinart brand name—were available at Burlington, T.J. Maxx, and Ross stores, as well as online through Amazon.com and Cuisinart.com, from June 2009 through March 2026. Prices ranged from $8 to $20.

The agency said small metal wire bristles can separate from the brushes and adhere to grill grates or become embedded in food. If ingested, the bristles can cause serious internal injuries that may require surgery.

Conair is aware of at least 54 reports and reviews describing bristles detaching, including three cases in which consumers swallowed metal bristles and required medical treatment to have them removed from their throats or digestive tracts.

Eight model numbers are covered under the recall—CCB-100, CCB-4125, CCB-5014, CCB-6450, CCB-8012, CCB-4114, CCB-W2, and CSBS-777—and can be identified by the word "Cuisinart" stamped on the handle. The brushes feature black plastic, stainless steel, or wood handles. Several of the recalled brushes were also included as components in multi-piece grill sets, including the Premium Grill 10 Piece Set, the 13 Piece Wooden Handle Grill Tool Set, the 14 Piece Deluxe Stainless Steel Grill Set, and the 20 Piece Deluxe Grill Set.

The recall spans a wide production window. Among those included are the BBQ Grill Cleaning Brush and Scraper, manufactured from June 2009 through March 2026, and the Steam Clean Grill Brush, made from March 2014 through July 2025. More recently produced items, such as the Triple Bristle Grill Brush SS Bristles and the 2-In-1 Grill Brush Bristle/Coil, were manufactured between January 2025 and March 2026.

Consumers who own any of the affected brushes should immediately stop using them and contact Conair for a full cash refund or a credit redeemable at Cuisinart.com for the full refund value plus an additional 20 percent. Consumers will be instructed to toss out the brushes.

Conair can be reached toll-free at 888-520-1304, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET. Additional information is available at recallrtr.com/grillbrushes or at Cuisinart.com under the "Product Recalls" section at the bottom of the page. The recall is listed under CPSC number 26-601.

The Cuisinart recall is the latest in a series of major grill brush recalls in 2026. In March, Nexgrill Industries, Inc. of Chino, California, recalled approximately 10.2 million metal wire bristle grill brushes sold exclusively through Home Depot and homedepot.com from 2015 to 2026, citing the same detached-bristle ingestion hazard. That recall—CPSC number 26-339—involved at least 68 reports of bristle detachment, five of which resulted in consumers requiring medical treatment to remove bristles from their throats or digestive tracts. Earlier in the year, Weber Inc. also recalled approximately 3.2 million metal wire bristle grill brushes for the same reason, affecting brushes sold between 2021 and 2026.
