The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Feb. 4 that Beacon Promotions Inc. has recalled more than 6,000 units of repackaged M&M’s candy because the products lack required allergen warnings for milk, soy, and peanuts. The mislabeling poses a risk to consumers with food allergies.

The recall was first initiated on Jan. 26 by Beacon Promotions Inc. and later classified by the FDA on Feb. 4 as a Class II recall, a designation that signals the products “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences” for people with sensitivities.

The packaging was not original M&M’s branding, but instead were custom packaged, and featured the names of a variety of businesses and organizations instead of the manufacturer. This mislabeling increases the risk for consumers with food allergies.

Allergen information has to be clearly visible on food packaging, but the recalled products with M&M’s were distributed in promotional packaging that omitted those warnings, the FDA said. The candies may contain milk, soy, or peanuts, according to recall notices.

Details of Recalled Products

The recall affects two main types of repackaged products:
  • 1.3-ounce packs of Peanut M&M’s with the promotional label “Make Your Mark,” bearing lot code M1823200 and a best-by date of April 30, 2026.
  • Classic M&M candies were sold in a variety of promotional packages for different organizations and companies.
The regular M&M’s units being recalled have lot codes and best-by dates ranging from Dec. 1, 2025, to Sept. 1, 2026, including L450ARCLV03, L502FLHKP01, L523CMHKP01, and L537GMHKP01.
According to the FDA notice, the recalled candies that were distributed in custom promotional packaging bear the names of numerous organizations and companies, including: Smith Pro, Jaxport, The Jacksonville Port Authority, Climax Molybdenum, a Freeport-McMoRan company, the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, Liberty University Environmental Health & Safety, Subaru, Trinity Cyb3r, Candy Treats, Jordan & Skala Engineers, Dropbox DocSend, Prosperity Promotions, the Northwest Indian College Foundation, FES Branding Solutions, Berkshire Hathaway Guard Insurance Companies, Merry Maids’ Annual 26 Conference, Best Western, Morgan Stanley, Tufin, Compliments of Pioneer, A.D. Morgan Construction, Adobe, Xfinity, Fundermax Interiors, White Cup, Acadia Commercial, Aviagen, ORG Expo and Make Your Mark.
