The lead singer of the band Molly Hatchet, Phil McCormack, has passed away at the age of 58.
"Phil was a fabulous, singer, band mate, brother, and human being," wrote Jay Nedry of The Roadducks. "Collectively we spent thousands of hours that turned into thousands of days together, creating an unbreakable bond few people are fortunate enough to ever experience."
"It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of our friend and band member, Phil McCormack," the Facebook post read. "Our condolences and prayers go out to his family during this time of loss. Phil's contributions to Molly Hatchet were heard around the world. He will be missed but never forgotten."
According to The Roadducks's post, the late singer first officially joined the band back in 1996, despite performing for the band for years prior to 1996. McCormack had played with The Roadducks since 1982.
McCormack was known for some of the band's hits, such as "Flirtin' With Disaster," "Whiskey Man," and "Gator Country." According to the Blabbermouth, the band had gone through many changes over the years, including disbandment back in the 1990s.
According to The Roadducks's Facebook Post, McCormack met back in 1978 "when [McCormack] and Jimbo Manion were tearing up the scene in Jaszo McMann." The Roadducks met Molly Hatchet officially later on that year when the band was on their first tour.
"Their drummer, Bruce Crump, was a prep school classmate of mine at Staunton Military Academy," Nedry wrote. "That chance meeting changed all of our lives in the band, as we met Marshall Tucker, The Outlaws, Blackfoot, 38 Special, Lynryd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and Stevie Ray Vaughn from that encounter and did shows all over the country together as a direct result."

Molly Hatchet had also mourned the loss of its other former members over the years, such as Danny Joe Brown, who passed away back in 2005. The original guitarists of Molly Hatchet, Duane Roland and Dave Hlubeck, passed away back in 2006 and 2017 respectively. The original bassist of the band, Bruce Crump, also passed away back in 2015.
The band was brought together by Hlubeck, who created the group back in 1971, right out of High School. In 1975, the band was formed. Molly Hatchet first debuted back in 1978, under Epic Records, but it wasn't until "Flirtin' With Disaster" that launched them into fame and on to the charts back at the time and became a legendary hit for the band.
Since the band's first conception, Molly Hatchet released a dozen studio albums—their most recent one being "Justice" back in 2010. They have had other releases and performances, such as lives and compilations filled with their greatest hits.
The band had seen many of its band members leave due to many reasons over the years, and the most recent line up consisted of McCormack on vocals, Bobby Ingram on guitar, John Galvin on the keyboard, Tim Linsey on bass, and Shawn Beamer on drums.
Many people went on the band's Facebook post and shared their condolences to the late singer's passing, giving their sympathies to the band. The comment section was filled with people sharing their experiences with meeting the late singer and the band, writing about how great of a time they had.
