A nationwide recall of Cuisinart grill brushes has expanded to more than 3.6 million over concerns the metal wire brushes could detach and cause an ingestion hazard, officials said.

Conair recalled 1,905,805 more grill brushes on Thursday, after pulling 1,719,995 units in July, according to a notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The agency said the small wire bristles could become stuck to grill grates or food after breaking off the brush, posing a risk of "serious internal injuries that could require surgery."

Per the notice, Conair has received 54 complaints of the metal bristles detaching to date, including three reports of customers who swallowed the wires and had to seek medical treatment to remove them from their digestive tract or throat.

The expanded recall includes more than a dozen additional model numbers: CGWM-024, CGWM-059, FCB-501, CGS-W18, CCB-134, CGWM-061, CB-395, CCB-3001, CGWM-077, CGWM-058, CCB-012/021, CGWM-060, and FBH-51. These join eight model numbers previously pulled, including CCB-100, CCB-4125, CCB-5014, CCB-6450, CCB-8012, CCB-4114, CCB-W2, and CSBS-777.

The recall covers all Cuisinart wire bristle grill brushes with black plastic, stainless steel, and wooden handles, including those sold individually and in sets, such as the Premium Grill 10 Piece set (CGS-2010), 13 Piece Wooden Handle Grill Tool Set (CGS-W13), 14 Piece Deluxe Stainless Steel Grill Set (CGS-5014), and 20 Piece Deluxe Grill Set (CGS-5020).

The affected products were sold at Walmart, Burlington, TJ Maxx, and Ross, as well as on Amazon and Cuisinart's website, from June 2009 through March 2026, retailing for between $8 and $20.

CPSC said customers should stop using the recalled grill brushes immediately and contact Conair for a full refund or credit.

According to the agency, more than 17 million wire grill brushes have been recalled in 2026 alone.

In March, Nexgrill recalled more than 10.2 million grill brushes sold in stores and online at Home Depot after receiving at least 68 reports of the bristles detaching, including five instances where people ingested the loose wires and had to seek medical care, CPSC said.

Weber, another popular barbecue brand, recalled more than 3.2 million grill brushes in February due to similar concerns. The affected products were sold online and in stores at Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace Hardware, and Target, as well as on Amazon and Weber's website, from 2011 through 2026.

Multiple personal injury lawsuits involving wire bristle grill brushes have been brought by consumers this year. Several class action suits have also been filed, including five related cases against Weber in Illinois federal court in March.
