Officials in central Oregon are asking for the public's help in tracking down two children who went missing last week and are believed to be in danger.
Officials said the children are likely still in Deschutes County, in either Bend or the neighboring city of Redmond, which is about 20 miles away.
ODHS did not note the relationship between the two children or provide a list of what they were wearing at the time they disappeared.
Julian is described as being 4 feet six inches tall and weighing 85 pounds, with blonde hair that is cut short and green eyes. Mahina stands at 4 feet two inches tall and weighs 65 pounds. She also has green eyes, with hair that is described as being approximately shoulder-length and either sandy brown or blonde in color.
No additional details were provided about the circumstances leading up to the children being reported missing or why they are believed to be in danger. Officials also did not share any information about their parents or guardians.
ODHS said that when a child is missing, there may be situations where they may be in "significant danger" and child welfare officials may need to locate them to "assess and support their safety."
"As ODHS works to do everything it can to find these missing children and assess their safety, media alerts will be issued in some circumstances," the agency said. "Sometimes, in these situations, a child may go missing repeatedly, resulting in more than one media alert for the same child."
A spokesperson for the Bend Police Department told NTD via email on Tuesday that the children had been entered as missing into their system and that officers would assist ODHS in finding them as needed. The case has also been reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Anyone who has seen the two missing children or has information about their whereabouts has been asked to call 911 or contact their local law enforcement department directly with any details that may assist authorities in the case.
ODHS also urged the public to report any instances of suspected child abuse to the Oregon Child Abuse Hotline by calling the toll-free number 1-855-503-7233, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
