“The United States doesn't have a performance that even begins to come close to what is being produced here through Shen Yun,” Karen Walker, a music school founder, said. “This is beautiful, classical, and it goes beyond entertainment. This is education in the highest form that I have ever seen in my life.
“It is melded to perfection. There is a discipline with Shen Yun—with the music, the dancing, and with the artistic scenery—that we do not have here in the United States. This is extraordinary.”
Jack Walker, president of the Northbridge Historical Society, said, “The colors, the dancing, the whole business; it's just so uplifting. If anyone is having a tough time with anything, come to this. It'll be better than any cocktail party, I tell you. Wonderful, wonderful.”
“We are the beneficiaries of this, and China and its culture are the losers. Whenever China loses this valuable asset, they lose, we win. I just wish more could be shown over here so we could appreciate more of what the culture used to be,” Ms. Walker said.
“Long after the sound has disappeared, it stays with you. It's unlike anything I have been accustomed to hearing in the past,” she added of Shen Yun's live orchestra, which accompanies the dancers' every movement on stage.
“We go to a lot of theater here, [in] Boston, and everywhere. But this was an exceptional, exceptional performance,” Mr. Walker said. “Anyone coming would just be overwhelmed, as I was. It's just beautiful.”
“Keep doing it. This is not just entertainment. This is life lessons at its best,” Ms. Walker said.
