VANCOUVER, Canada—Shen Yun Performing Arts dazzled audiences at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, Canada, on April 12. Theatergoers were impressed by the artistry of the performers and the seamless blending of the live performance and patented digital backdrop.

“The transition between the backdrop and the stage was especially seamless. It gives you the feeling that there’s no separation at all, like it’s actually real,” Meihua Fang, a Chinese audience member, said.

“These dancers are able to perform such high-difficulty movements, like doing splits and flips in the air, extending their legs that high. What they express, that sense of joy, those scenes, that aesthetic beauty, it makes you feel as if you are in Heaven.”

“This is my first time attending a Shen Yun performance,” Guanggao Wang, a Chinese audience member, said. “It’s very moving, very good. The viewing experience is excellent.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from “China before communism,” highlighting themes of faith and spirituality.

In addition to ancient myths and legends, it also portrays scenes of China’s modern-day persecution of faith. The audience members were moved by the beauty and emotional depth of the performances about their own culture.

Ms. Fang said, “I believe that pursuing faith, pursuing goodness, pursuing sincerity, and pursuing kindness is a person’s freedom. It should not be taken away. But in China, if you have faith, you may suffer persecution. So I feel that what Shen Yun’s performers show is a kind of beauty, a very sacred, very pure beauty. It’s a kind of beauty that comes from having faith within. So I will also recommend [Shen Yun] to my friends.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun has been touring the world since 2006. Audience members expressed their hope for Shen Yun to continue spreading the beauty of traditional Chinese culture with the world.

Ms. Fang said, “I wish for [Shen Yun] to grow stronger and stronger. I am also grateful to them for presenting things in this way. I know they are already very successful, and I hope they can spread to more places, so more people around the world can see the beauty of China, China’s greatness, and also let more people see that many people in China are suffering from a lack of freedom of belief and may face persecution.”

Mr. Wang said, “I will recommend friends to come watch Shen Yun. It’s very good.”

Shen Yun continues their 2026 world tour, with performances in the United States, France, Japan, Brazil, and Mexico.
