San Marcos City Councilwoman Danielle LeBlang watched Shen Yun in Escondido, California, where she presented a special commendation for the artists on March 15.

“I enjoyed the whole concept of the entire performance," Ms. LeBlang said.

"And just it was a sight, a sight to behold, and just all senses were engaged. So it was really nice,” she said.

“I just wanted to thank you guys for bringing this beautiful show to Escondido, which is one of our neighboring cities, and for continuing to encourage the arts in our community. So thank you again, and it was just a gorgeous show."

With eight troupes touring the world simultaneously, Shen Yun is on a mission to revive traditional Chinese culture before communism.

“Oh, the show is absolutely wonderful. I don’t know where to begin ... the dancers, the music, the theme, everything is actually out of this world,” said Sonny Hogue, the owner of a financial services company.

“I thought the show was an explosion of art, of beauty, talent, neatness, sensitivity, but there is also a lot of emotion. I really liked the combination of the choreographies and the music, which are simple but profound melodies,” said renowned Spanish musician Luis Cobos.

“It is a show full of light, a show that takes us to the deepest traditions of ancient China,” said Jesús Ángel Rojo Pinilla, entrepreneur and recipient of the country’s several orders of merit.

“We bring our kids all the time, and it's probably our sixth show,” said hospital manager David Slaski. “It's just a beautiful display, the colors, the culture, just a great thing to teach our children,” he said.

“The beauty, the tranquility, the most spiritual, the most mundane, the peoples. I mean, I congratulate the composer. I don’t know who it is if it’s one or several, but I congratulate him because they have managed to portray all of this with great professional skill,” Mr. Cobos said.

Beyond artistic achievement, audience members were also touched by Shen Yun’s message of faith and hope.

“It talked about how maybe some people are being persecuted in China, and what’s going on and maybe what we can do to sort of help that. So it’s through the message that the act was absolutely great, and it was very informative,” said Mr. Hogue.

“It’s heartbreaking to see some of the scenes and what they went through, and what they continue to go through, and the way they portray that in dance. It’s nice to teach the children about other cultures and to see how, how people live, what they endure, and how they choose to, to display it on stage, to teach others,” Mr. Slaski said.

“There is a saying in life, as you all know, that in order for evil to triumph, all that is needed is for good men to do absolutely nothing. That is why I believe the artists are doing not only an artistic work but a work of launching that message of freedom, that message that there is still hope to end the evil that tortures, that persecutes and that one day will end,” said Mr. Pinilla.

“It’s very relevant for today, and even 2,000 years ago, it’s relevant as well. So the message is the same today and in the future and as it was in the past,” Mr. Hogue said.

“Keep doing it, keep training, keep bringing on these wonderful shows. Because I can’t tell you how much it brings joy to us to come and see and to learn about your culture,” Mr. Slaski said.
