Shen Yun Performing Arts, the world’s leading classical Chinese dance company, offered audiences in Dortmund, Germany, a glimpse into five millennia of Chinese civilization on April 10. Audience members appreciated the opportunity to experience the beauty of China before communism.

“I must say I find the tradition absolutely brilliant. I found the culture presented here, or rather from [China], incredibly interesting,” said Mirko Bicvic, a sales specialist.

“I found it very interesting, very exciting, very imaginative, and very delicate. I found the combination of media and nature to be absolutely amazing. I've never seen anything like it before.”

“The dances and acrobatics were truly world-class. We were all very impressed,” said Igor Schapiro, a university professor.

“The music, it's so beautiful, this calming music. It soothes the soul, I really liked it,” said Isra Celik, a business owner.

Traditional Chinese culture and virtues find their roots in the divine, which Shen Yun showcases through classical dance, music, and storytelling. Theatergoers praised Shen Yun’s efforts to share it with the world.

“These eternal themes of humanity, these laws have always been valid and will always remain valid. It's so magically expressed. I really enjoyed it,” said Ulrike Feldmann, a clinic owner.

“It's natural in a world where this duality is always at stake. This yin and yang, this battle between good and evil, light and dark. That's something that always moves you. And that's wonderfully expressed on an evening like this. And the beautiful thing is that in the end, good wins,” said Feldmann. “That's exactly what gives us hope on this earth, that things will be alright, that things will turn out well.”

For Feldmann, Shen Yun was more than just a performance.

“You leave here feeling like you've been given a gift this evening. It's beautiful, this grace, these deep themes, danced in such a beautiful, light, and enchanting way. It's simply a gift, it's beautiful,” he said.

Shen Yun will be performing in Stockholm, Sweden, from April 19 through 21.
