U.S. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan met with leaders of free-market and pro-life organizations on March 30.

Ryan discussed how to advance a conservative agenda at the meeting, which took place at the U.S. Capitol.

More than a dozen leaders of the conservative movement were in attendance.

“I asked leaders of the conservative movement here in America to come today to talk about how we move forward, and how we advance our principles. We believe in the principles of conservatism. We believe in liberty and free markets. We believe in life, the Constitution. These are important principles that we have a historic opportunity to make good on,” Ryan said in his opening remarks.

The meeting comes a week after President Donald Trump’s health care overhaul was pulled off the House floor because of a lack of support. However, both Trump and Ryan have promised to continue to work on health care reform.

“We had a setback last week, but we’re not going to let that get us down. We’re going to talk about how we move forward and advance this agenda and truly seize this historic opportunity we have in front of us to improve people’s lives and make a difference and advance these conservative principles,” said Ryan.
