Thanks to Facebook, 37 years later a childhood bully sends an impressive apology

Childhood is one of the best phases of our life! But it turns a burden if you get bullied and have no way to deal with it. Lisa Sugarman was severely bullied in her childhood by a schoolmate.

However thanks to Facebook, 37 years later, out of the blue moon Lisa got an apology message from her childhood bully. And she was left speechless!

“When I finally did get to the message, it was a huge surprise to learn who the message was from. But even more than that initial shock, I was left totally dumbfounded over what the message said,” Lisa shared in her post on Little Things.

Lisa’s bully owned up everything and expressed that she wanted to reach out to her since many years but wasn’t able to find her. “She apologized for everything, out of the clear and beautiful blue sky — and I never ever saw it coming,” said Lisa.

Lisa mentions that she was bullied only by one person in her childhood and it was this girl.  The two girls were in grammar school together and Lisa felt miserable because of her bully who left no opportunity to trouble her.

“It didn’t matter whether we were in the classroom, in the lunchroom, on the playground, or in the gym — she was on me like white on rice every single chance she got. Funny, the things that stick with you. And believe me, this stuff stuck with me,” recalled Lisa.

May be the bully’s conscious was troubled and she wanted to repent. But Lisa can’t understand the real reason behind her gesture, she however believes that it would have taken lot of courage to own up her bad behaviour.

“So while it may not have come exactly when I needed it most (like in the sixth grade), the apology did eventually come, and it meant something (albeit slightly diluted by the fact that it came three-and-a-half decades late). And it reaffirmed my faith that everyone has the bandwidth to evolve if they want to badly enough,” said Lisa.

No matter what, life moves on – some change for good, some change for worse. It’s great that Lisa’s childhood bully made a great choice for herself.
