President Donald Trump revealed on March 25 that Meta co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, and other major tech leaders will be on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).

The council will look at how emerging technologies can help the American workforce during what the White House called "the Golden Age of Innovation."

Others tech bosses selected for the council include Dell Technologies founder and CEO Michael Dell, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Oracle CEO Safra Catz, Netscape co-founder Marc Andreessen, Oklo co-founder and CEO Jacob DeWitte, Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam, entrepreneur David Friedberg, Nvidia CEO and co-founder Jensen Huang, Nobel Prize winner in Physics John Martinis, Commonwealth Fusion Systems CEO Bob Mumgaard, and AMD CEO Lisa Su.

PCAST will be co-chaired by White House AI and Crypto czar David Sacks and Trump’s science and technology policy advisor Michael Kratsios.

“Thirteen of the world’s most accomplished leaders in science and technology will join us as this PCAST’s initial members,” Sacks wrote in a March 25 post on X. “Together we will make policy recommendations to ensure that America leads—and wins—in artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies."

PCAST will have up to 24 members.

The White House said more members will be announced soon.

“Rooted in the tradition FDR began in 1933, PCAST unites America’s brightest minds to advise the President on the most pressing national issues in science and technology,” Kratsios wrote in an X post on Wednesday.

The council was established by an executive order Trump made on Jan. 23, 2025.

“As our global competitors race to exploit these technologies, it is a national security imperative for the United States to achieve and maintain unquestioned and unchallenged global technological dominance,” the executive order reads.

“To secure our future, we must harness the full power of American innovation by empowering entrepreneurs, unleashing private-sector creativity, and reinvigorating our research institutions.”

Wednesday's announcement was made just over a month after two dozen House Democrats, including Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) and Jim McGovern (D-Mass.), criticized the White House for not being transparent about the PCAST process.

"We request that you provide a formal report of PCAST’s plans and updates in advancing our scientific and technological innovation," their letter to the Trump administration reads.

In a separate AI-related event on Wednesday, First Lady Melania Trump was accompanied by “Figure 03,” an AI-powered robot, during a White House summit on how to use tech to empower kids.

The robot walked to the panel with her, scanned the room, and then greeted the audience in nearly a dozen languages.

The American-made robot was designed to conduct household tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and washing dishes.
