A report has claimed that the Canadian government was not transparent regarding deaths related to COVID-19, along with the damaging and lasting impact the pandemic had on Canadian citizens.
"Government policies were not only largely ineffective at saving lives but also contributed to the rise in unexpected deaths. Many doctors, statisticians, and other experts have raised concerns about troubling patterns they have observed among death statistics," says the report in its executive summary.
Three key concerns were highlighted in the latest annual Canadian death statistics, via Statistics Canada, released in February 2025, where age and cause of death were noted. The information, however, largely confirms existing doubts surrounding the COVID-19 narrative and reveals what actually happened behind the overall death statistics during and after the pandemic.
First, the report states that death numbers related to COVID-19 were exaggerated significantly, primarily because the definition of death from the disease was overbroad.
Second, the report also claimed that government-imposed lockdowns caused substantial harm, including excess deaths from drug overdoses, alcohol-related illnesses, delayed health care, and more.
The final point the report addresses is that “there is a disturbing correlation between the rushed Covid vaccine and the ongoing trend of unexpected deaths.” This includes death attributed to neurological diseases, digestive issues, and heart-related issues.
Strangely, a quarter of all Canadian deaths for those under the age of 45 are “attributed to unknown causes,” the report claims.
Also highlighted in the report is that between 2020 and 2024, Canadians died at an alarming rate, not due to contracting COVID-19, as deaths were primarily due to pandemic-adjacent issues related to the lockdowns, vaccine mandates and passports, and other effects.
The findings in this report, compiled by Justice Centre staffers and researchers, "are inescapable: intentional or not, Canadian politicians and public health authorities exaggerated the danger of Covid while neglecting the harm their freedom-violating policies inflicted upon Canadians during and after the years of lockdowns and vaccine passports."
“Governments not only failed to protect lives but also contributed to thousands of preventable deaths with their freedom-violating policies,” he observed.
It was while liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was leading Canada from parliament in Ottawa, that the Canadian people began to push back against government mandates, vaccine passports, and efforts that were viewed as tyrannical, rather than healthful, as the government claimed.
Things came to a head in Winter 2022 when protesters went to the Canadian capital of Ottawa, as part of a "Freedom Convoy," and besieged Parliament Hill for three weeks, particularly in support of Canadian truckers and opposing Trudeau's actions.
Trudeau would invoke the Emergencies Act to end the protests, which included blocking border crossings. The Canadian trucker protests proved to be an example that other truckers followed in the Netherlands, New Zealand, and France.
Klassen's report noted that Canadian government officials assured citizens that these policies would "save lives." However, Klassen said the reality and data "reveals the opposite" effect.
“Lockdowns, delayed healthcare, and rushed vaccine mandates all appear to have significantly contributed to high numbers of additional and unexpected deaths from causes other than COVID,” Klassen observed.
