Fourteen maternity nurses from HSHS St. Vincent Hospital’s Women and Infants Center in Wisconsin are expecting babies of their own.
These nurses, who spend their days guiding families through childbirth and caring for newborns, are now preparing to welcome new additions to their own families.
The group includes several first-time mothers, making the experience even more meaningful, according to Amy Bardon, director of the Women and Infants Center.
“This is an incredible full-circle moment for many of our nurses, some of which are about to become first-time moms themselves,” Bardon said in the statement released by the hospital.
“Each of these women were already baby experts in their own rights, but for many of them their firsthand experience offering care to an infant, and moms for that matter, is about to further deepen."
At the Women and Infants Center, families are cared for by registered nurses who have completed advanced training and bring years of experience to every delivery and recovery, according to the hospital. The nurses serve as clinical experts, educators, and advocates, making sure that new parents feel confident and supported from the start.
“When our expecting nurses are ready to welcome their little ones into the world, they’ll be cared for by their friends and colleagues here at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital, and they find comfort in that,” Bardon said.
“But even before labor, these women have already built some really unique bonds with their colleagues, and I love that each of them has the chance to go through this special moment with each other.”
HSHS St. Vincent Hospital is part of Hospital Sisters Health System, a Catholic health care ministry founded in 1875.
