Avengers star Jeremy Renner was honored by his local police department in Revo, Nevada on Aug. 30. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office held a ceremony that awarded the actor the title of “special deputy sheriff.”
The Sheriff’s Office posted images from the event to their Facebook and Instagram pages, with the actor also being presented with a badge as he met a number of local law enforcement officers.
In an Instagram post of his own, Renner called the event “an amazing honor.”
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post states that Renner “calls Washoe County home and he wants to be a part of this community, including support for local law enforcement.”
He's since become well-known for playing the character of "Hawkeye" in Avengers films, as well as his police and military roles in major films like The Hurt Locker, Wind River, S.W.A.T., and many more.
