A 20-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of a Seattle beer taproom employee.

Quusaa "Q" Margarsa was an employee at the Growler Guys taproom in the Northeast neighborhood of the city. He was found dead by police on May 9 with multiple gunshot wounds. Margarsa was remembered as a beloved member of his community.

The Seattle Police issued a notice on their blotter that they had arrested the suspect on May 11. Detectives from the homicide unit located the suspect, took him into custody, and booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of murder. The Seattle Times later added that a judge set a $2 million bail at arraignment on May 12.

The murder happened on the morning of May 9. Patrol officers responded to a report of a man down at a business on Lake City Way in the Northeast neighborhood of the city. The officers found the victim dead of apparent fatal gunshot wounds. Medics from the Seattle Fire Department arrived on the scene, where the victim was pronounced dead.

The police report did not name either the victim or the business, but local news outlets identified both. The victim was 25 year-old Quusaa "Q" Margarsa; Margarsa was an employee at Growler Guys, a chain of taprooms in the Pacific Northwest and Wisconsin.

Kelly Dole, the owner of the franchise, told local news outlet KIRO 7 that Margarsa was beloved by patrons and his coworkers. He said that Margarsa closed the business on the evening of May 8 and returned several hours later for some reason; Dole believed he was followed there.

Details, however, are scant.

“The circumstances leading up to this shooting are under investigation,” Seattle Police detective Eric Munoz told the outlet. “It is far too early in the investigation to understand what happened. We can’t speak on motive. We don’t have those whys yet.”

Growler Guys was closed while police investigated, but friends, family, and coworkers spent the entire weekend visiting the bar to pay their respects. Dole remembered Margarsa as a valued member of the community.

“I guess I would say that he and his friends, including my son, the rest of them, are about as tight-knit a group of young men that you’ll ever find,” he said. “And he was a key part of that.”

Dole started a GoFundMe under his name, which has since raised more than $70,000 of a $90,000 goal.

"With the devastating loss of Quusaa 'Q' Margarsa, we are raising funds to assist with funeral and memorial expenses," the fundraiser states. "Any donation amount is greatly appreciated in support of Q's family, during this tragic time."
