In the State of the Union address, President Joe Biden urged lawmakers to pass Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, saying the legislation would protect workers’ rights.
Proponents of the PRO Act say that the bill would protect workers’ right to organize a union and that Unions can help increase wages. The bill would also prevent employers from getting involved in union elections.
Those against the PRO Act say it would greatly expand the power of the National Labor Relations Board. and they’re concerned that the government would be able to determine the winners of unionization drives regardless of votes. Opponents also worry that the bill would unfairly favor union organizers.
