Justin Bieber said he wasn’t serious when he challenged Tom Cruise to a fight on Twitter.

The singer told TMZ that he was just playing around.

“I was just playing … I don’t know him … he’s tight … the story is I seen an interview with him, so it was just on my mind. I don’t know why I thought about [it],” Bieber told TMZ paparazzi.

Bieber stood in his van as he spoke, relaxed and casually dressed with a security guard in front of him, standing outside the van.

“It was just a random tweet. I do that stuff sometimes … I’m pretty sure Tom would…I think he’d probably whoop my [expletive] in a fight,” Bieber tells TMZ photographers.

Bieber was wearing a shirt with a photo of Drew Barrymore as a child when she starred in the iconic movie, “E.T.” She also holds a small E.T. doll in the photo on the shirt.

The photographers asked Bieber if he would still fight Cruise if he accepted the challenge.

“I’d have to get in some good shape … But I’m really skinny right now. He’d probably be out of my weight class,” Bieber told them.

Bieber continued to back down.

“He’s big. He’s got that dad strength. He’s a dad, right?” Bieber adds.

Bieber offered the challenge on June 9.

“I wanna challenge Tom Cruise to fight in the octagon. Tom if you dont take this fight your scared and you will never live it down. Who is willing to put on the fight? @danawhite?” Bieber wrote on Twitter.

Bieber even @mentioned UFC head Dana White.

UFC fighters and boxing promoters responded with enthusiasm. Even Conor McGregor was willing to help Bieber make the fight happen.

“If Tom Cruise is man enough to accept this challenge, McGregor Sports and Entertainment will host the bout. Does Cruise have the sprouts to fight, like he does in the movies? Stay tuned to find out!” McGregor wrote on Twitter.

Then McGregor offered to fight another actor on the very same fight card.

“I challenge Mark Walhberg on the very same card. Back when mark wahlberg was marky mark, I’d’ve still slapped the ears off him and took my ufc shares back,” McGregor tweeted.

Bieber’s latest tweet features a movie clip of a fight scene involving a young Tom Cruise. Bieber’s face is pasted onto a bigger, heavier adversary. The clip shows Tom beating Justin, while the faces of Dana White and Conor McGregor are pasted onto men betting on the fight. Even the faces of Matt Damon and Elon Musk make appearances as onlookers.

The video clip was uploaded by the MegaMilez YouTube channel. Bieber jokingly wrote in the same tweet, “Damn Tom this didn’t go as planned.”

Next Career Moves

Aside from the fake, fan-made responses in the comments section of the Bieber tweet, Cruise doesn’t appear to have responded. The veteran actor is currently working on two more sequels in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, scheduled for 2021 and 2022 releases.

Next year, Cruise will star in the long-awaited sequel to his 1986 hit “Top Gun.” The sequel, currently titled “Top Gun: Maverick,” is in its final stages of completion, according to the Internet Movie Database.

Bieber’s last album, “Purpose,” was released in 2015. He hasn’t yet said when he will release another album, but he did post a tweet that has garnered some speculation.

“More music coming. Happy Sunday,” tweeted Bieber, on June 9.
