Luke Ericson is just like every other athlete who participates in CrossFit. He lifts insane amounts of weight, propels his body from one apparatus to the next, and competes in CrossFit competitions.

He also only has one arm.

Ericson was born without his left arm and only half of his left lung. Recently he developed type 1 diabetes and scoliosis, but he hasn’t let his disabilities slow him down.

Instead he uses his physical disability to motivate himself and others.

When he first got into CrossFit he found that he needed to modify a lot of the movements, but after a year of working out he stopped putting limits on himself and started training just like his able-bodied competitors.

“It’s your body, it’s your life. You only get one of each.”

Ericson says that while people would give him strange looks when he picked up a barbell, he never let it get to him.

He explains in the inspirational video above that many people with either disabilities or just plain self-confidence issues too often let fear win. His advice is to attack that fear head-on, don’t let anyone or anything get in your way. If he can do it, so can you!
