Do you know anyone who never took a day off for 30 years? Ruben Hernandez, who works for the U.S. Postal Service in Fresno California, has such a record.
More interestingly, other than collecting mail and packages, he also delivers smiles when he is on duty. "I don't think I've ever seen him without a smile on his face," said Postmaster Douglas Smith who hasn’t been absent in the past 32 years himself. And he also thinks Hernandez "is a great representative of our business."
USPS employee Angie Johnson has had attendance for 25 years.
Hernandez plans to continue his current job for another 10 years. He believes what he does is very important, and his customers and coworkers all depend on his reliable work. However, at times, he has wanted to call out, like when a heat is brutal outside, or when he got pneumonia.
