Norwegian Cruise Line told guests this week there has been a cancellation of more than four months of sailings on two of its vessels, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Breakaway, with rebookings available.
The cruise line is set to swap the deployment of the two ships, impacting a number of guests with existing reservations. Norwegian Prima will now operate Norwegian Breakaway’s previously planned Southern Caribbean itineraries from San Juan, Puerto Rico, while Norwegian Breakaway will take over Norwegian Prima’s scheduled Western Caribbean sailings from New Orleans, the company told guests on Monday.
- Norwegian Prima: Voyages scheduled between Nov. 15, 2026, and March 28, 2027
- Norwegian Breakaway: Voyages scheduled between Nov. 8, 2026, and March 28, 2027
In letters addressed to impacted guests, Norwegian Cruise Line apologized to guests for the inconvenience, offering a discount to make up for the inconvenience.
“As passionate cruisers ourselves, we know this wasn’t part of your plan, and we truly apologize for any disruption or disappointment this has caused. We want to assure you that we’re here to make this process as smooth as possible,” the cruise line said in separate letters sent to guests for both cruise ships.
For guests previously booked on the canceled sailings, Norwegian Cruise Line said all affected travelers will automatically receive a full refund of the fare paid, returned to their original form of payment within 30 business days.
The cruise line noted that guests should expect to see the refund within seven to ten business days from the processed date, though timing may vary, depending on one’s financial institution's international policies.
Those who used a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) for their reservations will have 100 percent of the FCC reapplied to their Latitudes account within 10 days of the cancellation date. In addition, as a gesture of appreciation for guests’ patience, Norwegian is providing a 10 percent discount in the form of a future cruise credit, valid for any published sailing through Dec. 31, 2027. This credit will be available for use starting July 14, 2025.
Travel partners have been asked to ensure that all impacted clients are aware of the changes and the steps being taken by Norwegian Cruise Line.
