Secret Service Says Gunfire Reported Near White House Overnight

Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith (Ret.), spokesman for the National Police Association, and Mathew Silverman, National President for the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, joined a panel discussion with NTD's Jack Bradley to assess security measures at the Washington Hilton, where Cole Thomas Allen allegedly fired shots at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

The panel also discussed the changes to security they expect to see at the postponed event, the potential implications of Homeland Security labeling the dinner a national special security event, and the stress on law enforcement.

They also discussed how President Donald Trump's White House Ballroom would be a solution to guard the president against security threats, and the security features the ballroom would provide for every other president after Trump.

The panel discussed how how security operates behind the scenes and the critical nature of cooperation between the Secret Service and local law enforcement at major events.
