Actress DuShon Monique Brown, who appeared on ‘Chicago Fire’ passed away in March shortly after being admitted to the hospital. Her cause of death was recently revealed on Thursday, May 31.

Cook County medical examiner’s office said the star died from a blood infection from an unknown source. Unfortunately, the infection led to the onset of sepsis, which is when the body’s immune system goes into overdrive and attacks foreign as well as healthy cells. Hypertensive cardiovascular disease and obesity were contributing factors, reported SFGate, citing the medical examiner.

Brown passed away on Friday, March 23, at St. James Olympia Field Hospital in Chicago. The actress was admitted to the hospital for tests after suffering chest pains earlier in the week, reported TMZ, citing sources.

Friends and family were devastated by the news of her sudden death.

“We are devastated by the loss of a very talented and kindhearted soul,” stated Brown’s manager, Robert Schroeder of Grossman & Jack Talent, at the time of her death.

“She brought laughter and joy to many, and she will be greatly missed.”

“The ‘Chicago Fire’ family is devastated to lose one of its own,” Wolf said in a statement at the time, reported USA Today.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with DuShon’s family and we will all miss her.”

She previously played Katie Welch on Fox’s ‘Prison Break’ and also starred on ‘Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams’ on Amazon, according to Deadline Hollywood.
