The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued four major recall notices at the end of July, flagging items sold on Amazon with hazards such as child entrapment, fire, fall injuries, and chemical poisoning. The recalled items sold on Amazon range from household baby gates to electric bikes and scooters.
The CPSC warned that a child’s torso could pass between the bottom of the gate and the floor, posing a risk of entrapment or death.
Manufactured in China and imported by Qeyan and Yanyanny, the product was priced between $55 and $75. Customers are urged to stop using the gate immediately. For a refund, customers are being asked to destroy the gate, submit photo evidence, and request a full refund.
The CPSC received 10 cracking complaints and four reports of falls, including one injury. Priced around $1,800, the scooters were manufactured in China and imported by Apollo Imports, Inc., based in Delaware.
Owners are advised to stop using the scooters and request a free replacement stem from Apollo. In addition to being sold on Amazon, the scooters were also sold at Best Buy stores nationwide and online, as well as on Apollo’s website.
The e-bikes’ lithium-ion batteries, also produced in China, were linked to 13 overheating incidents. Two of those caused fires resulting in $4,000 in property damages.
Customers must mark and photograph the battery label, dispose of the battery via hazardous waste channels, and submit proof to receive a full refund.
