A high school senior just three weeks shy of graduation was killed in a car crash while on her way to school.

Olivia Marie Eichholz, 18, a student at ILTexas Aggieland High School in College Station, has been identified by a fundraiser on GiveSendGo as the victim of the April 27 crash. The fundraiser states that Eichholz was an active junior ROTC student who aspired to join the U.S. Air Force and was studying Mandarin Chinese and Spanish to better connect with others.

“Olivia had a beautiful, fun-loving spirit that made people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. She had a natural way of bringing smiles to others and carried a joy that was truly contagious,” the description reads.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. in the 5200 block of Raymond Stotzer Parkway, also known as Highway 60, according to a release from the College Station Police Department. Authorities said dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting a multi-vehicle collision with injuries and a possible fatality.

Responding officers determined that the driver of a small sedan, later identified as Eichholz, was deceased at the scene. The driver of a pickup truck involved in the crash sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

A preliminary investigation by the department indicates that the sedan was traveling eastbound on Highway 60 when it crossed into the westbound lanes, resulting in a head-on collision with the pickup truck. The crash remains under investigation.

Eichholz was on her way to school from Caldwell at the time of the incident, according to remarks from International Leadership of Texas Superintendent Eddie Conger, as reported by KBTX. Conger said the student was “loved and respected by students and by staff,” extending condolences to her family.

In the days following the crash, members of the community and local organizations have shared tributes. Country Burger, a restaurant in Somerville where Eichholz worked, announced it would close for several days in her honor.

“We are beyond heartbroken to have to experience the loss of Olivia,” the business said in a Facebook post. “She was someone special that had the kindest heart with the most contagious smile. She truly had a one of a kind personality & it was such a blessing to have had her be apart of our Country Burger family.”

The fundraiser established in Eichholz’s memory states that contributions will go toward funeral expenses and supporting her family during the aftermath of the tragedy. Organizers also asked for continued prayers and support as the community remembers her life.
