With the show’s revival just announced, “Duck Dynasty” star Silas “Uncle Si” Robertson was admitted to the emergency room after a fall during a hunting trip.
Martin recalled the incident, saying the accident occurred during a winter duck hunting trip in Arkansas.
The party had started out early on what Martin described as a comfortable trip, “like a beach vacation for duck hunters,” despite the cold winter weather.
The party left pretty early to go back to the boathouse for breakfast, and that was where 76-year-old Robertson took a nasty fall.
“In a big dang hurry to get out of the boat, he fell,” Martin said.
As he set foot on the steep, gravel bank, Robertson slipped and fell right on top of his oxygen machine, which he wears like a bandoleer to his side.
“He bounced right back up,” Martin said.
However, during breakfast, it appeared Robertson had disappeared. Martin found him sitting outside in the 20-degree cold, and immediately thought his friend must have suffered a concussion.
“He was so out of character,” Martin said. He persuades his friend to come inside.
Contrary to his habit, Robertson ate his breakfast in silence. “There’s another red flag, boy ain't never quiet,” Martin said.
When the party stopped at a gas station on their way back, Martin told Robertson he didn’t look well, but Robertson brushed off any concerns. The next day, however, Martin got a text message that Robertson was heading to the ER.
“As soon as I read the text, I said, that old sucker done … one of them ribs is broke.”
Sure enough, doctors confirmed that Robertson suffered a couple of bruised ribs. They also said his oxygen was low. Nevertheless, he’s expected to make a full recovery.
Last Wednesday, A&E announced a reboot of “Duck Dynasty” nearly eight years after the original show, which ran for 11 seasons, peaking with 11.8 million viewers.
“I was a huge fan of the original ‘Duck Dynasty’ and thought it was the best reality sitcom of all time, so I jumped at the chance to work with Willie and Korie,” Wheelhouse CEO and executive producer Brent Montgomery said.
“The Robertsons live by a motto of ‘faith, family and fun’ and that will be the heartbeat of what we bring to viewers.”
A&E has ordered two seasons of 10 episodes each, and the new series is expected to premiere summer 2025.
