White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Thursday the birth of her baby girl.
"On May 1st, Viviana aka “Vivi” joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love," Leavitt wrote on X. "She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble."
Leavitt, 28, also shared a photo posing with her newborn from her nursery, thanking everyone for their support during her pregnancy, adding, "God is good."
This is the second child for Leavitt, 28, with Nicholas Riccio, 60. Their son Niko was born in July 2024, just three days before an assassination attempt on Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last July, but returned to work shortly after.
The White House press secretary has often touted her love of motherhood.
On Mother's Day, she shared a photo with her son along with the caption: "There’s nothing I love more than being his mom."
Leavitt made history by becoming the youngest person to assume the role of White House press secretary at 27 years old. Leavitt is the sixth working mother in a row to serve in the role.
Leavitt’s high-profile job consists of elaborating to the media and the American public what the president's remarks could mean for the country and promoting his America First agenda. While Trump most often speaks for himself, Leavitt serves as the president's primary messenger, hosting press briefings and appearing on television interviews.
In discussing work-life balance, Leavitt said it’s important to be surrounded by colleagues who understand and support motherhood and family values.
“Nearly all of my West Wing colleagues have babies and young children, so we all really support one another as we tackle raising our families while working for the greatest president ever," Leavitt said.
Second Lady Usha Vance is expecting her fourth child, a boy, with Vice President JD Vance, announcing in January the news about their growing family. The couple is often spotted traveling and attending White House events with their three young children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
Katie Miller is also expecting a child with her husband, Trump’s senior adviser Stephen Miller. The couple announced the news by sharing a photo on Instagram taken on New Year’s Eve that showed off the expecting mother’s growing belly.
