Tributes from celebrities and other public figures have begun pouring in after the death of action star Chuck Norris, who died Thursday at the age of 86.

Norris's family announced his death in an Instagram post Friday, saying he was surrounded by his loved ones and at peace in his final moments.

"He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives," his family penned.

"While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him. The love and support he received from fans around the world meant so much to him, and our family is truly thankful for it. To him, you were not just fans, you were his friends."

Sylvester Stallone, who appeared alongside Norris in "The Expendables 2," took to Instagram to share that he enjoyed his time on set with him.

"I had a great time working with Chuck. He was All American in every way," Stallone wrote. "Great man and my condolences to his wonderful family."

Swedish actor Dolph Lundgren, who also starred in the 2012 action film, called Norris "the champ" and a lifelong inspiration.

"Ever since I was a young martial artist and later getting into movies, I always looked up to him as a role model. Someone who had the respect, humility and strength it takes to be a man. We will miss you, my friend," Lundgren shared.
"Deepest condolences on the passing of my friend, Chuck Norris," fellow actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme wrote. "We knew each other from my early days, and I always respected the man he was. My heart and prayers are with his family. He will never be forgotten."

Beyond Hollywood stars, fighters from the Mixed Martial Arts world also paid tribute online, honoring the "Walker, Texas Ranger" actor's influence in combat sports.

"RIP to the grim reaper for having to meet Chuck Norris," wrote UFC middleweight Bo Nickal.

Political leaders also paid their respects, with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott noting that the state "has lost a legend."

"All of Texas mourns the passing of Chuck Norris. He was not only a martial arts champion, action icon, and the one and only 'Walker, Texas Ranger.' But he electrified generations of conservatives. Giving them a passion and voice to fight for the principles that make America the greatest nation on earth," Abbott said.

"He embodied the toughness, grit, and patriotism that makes Texas supreme. Rest in peace, Chuck."

Norris shared his last Instagram post on March 10 in celebration of his 86th birthday.

"I don’t age. I level up," the actor wrote. "I’m grateful for another year, good health and the chance to keep doing what I love. Thank you all for being the best fans in the world. Your support through the years has meant more to me than you’ll ever know. God Bless, Chuck Norris."
