Since Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-W.Va.) statement rejecting the Build Back Better bill, accusations against him have ranged from his being called “untrustworthy” to being accused of stopping democracy. But, has he really left democracy “hanging by a thread,” as one Washington Post columnist suggests?
